Immigrant Communities

Immigrants make up a vibrant and essential part of the fabric of Richfield. That fabric is under ongoing threat by federal immigration enforcement and requires that we stand together to support our local friends and neighbors. Our family has supported immigrant communities through our church which fully supports the use of its space as a place of refuge. We have supported families that have lost their breadwinner to deportation, threatening the lives of the mother and children with the inability to afford housing and food. More can be done by our local government. We need to engage immigrant communities to identify what types of support the city can help with.

Provide access to low-cost immigration legal services through the city.
Create an emergency financial assistance fund for families that have lost an adult to immigration detainment
Assist local churches with setting up places of refuge
Provide no public safety assistance to ICE when operating in our community.
